Brandon’s Email Butler is a personal Windows application that reviews connected Gmail accounts and creates one combined morning brief per profile.
It separates important messages, useful updates, and everyday noise. Classification runs through Ollama on the computer running the application. AI can make mistakes, so the brief is a helpful starting point—not a replacement for checking your inbox.
How it works
Sign in through Google and grant access to each Gmail account you choose.
Profile preferences and example classifications help the local AI understand what matters to you.
Read the saved brief or enable Gmail delivery to your chosen email address.
Why it requests Gmail access
- Read email: retrieve message details and content to classify and summarize messages from connected accounts.
- Send email, when enabled: deliver the generated morning brief through an authorized Gmail account to the configured recipient.
The application does not request permission to delete mail or modify your inbox. You sign in on Google’s own authorization screen; Email Butler does not ask for your Google password.
Personal software, running on your computer
Email Butler is currently used by a small invited group. This website explains the project; it does not connect to Gmail or process your email. Setup and account authorization happen in the locally installed application.
Local files include preferences, OAuth credentials, classification examples, saved briefs, and diagnostic history. If that folder is synced or backed up, those files may also be copied by your chosen provider. Emailed briefs leave the computer through Gmail.
